Why we aren’t going to steal your staff!

Let me take you back a lot of years, I was talking to someone who I knew that was in recruitment and at that time, to be honest, I didn’t know much about recruitment at all. I was working in a consultancy where our whole service was built on being open and transparent with our clients, sitting on their side of the table and representing their interest in front of third parties.

Anyway, this conversation led to this person bragging how much in fees they had made from moving a single candidate to multiple roles, placing them, moving them, placing them, moving them. This guy seemed to be really proud of this achievement and I was flabbergasted. Now, it was of course my naivety, but my question was “how do the clients feel about this?”. A seed (that I didn’t realise at the time) was planted.

Sometimes naivety is a good thing isn’t it? So when it came to setting up Turner & Voce, Justin and I were able to start with a blank slate and one of the key areas that we wanted to obliterate from our clients minds when engaging with us was “Will these guys move this candidate on in 6 months time?” so we created a guarantee that has made such a big difference with our client engagements – the guarantee that we will never move on a candidate that we place.

7 years in, this commitment is only stronger than ever. I mean, how do you create long lasting relationships with clients if you are forever ripping them off? You can’t. And we want to add value, because what’s more important than people in a business? We want the candidates that we place to stay, to add value, to build the business so that we can be a part of that success over time! For us, the win is not the first fee, the win for us is the relationship. We want to build relationships that last the test of time.
